Acrylics on Paper | Amsterdam 2017

Works made for a series of performances to be presented during the 2019 Habana Biennial. The project explore the land and culture of the Yoruba people, whose art is an essential and integral element in the Afro Latinamerican way of life.

The Yoruba are among the oldest and most influential of all African cultures, for centuries countless people of Yoruba descent have been living in the Americas. The broad influence of Yoruba culture today ranges from religious blends of Santeria, to visual arts, to the complex rhythmic beats of Afro-Latin and Caribbean music.
